Fort Calgary
Start your wanders right at the finish area with historic Fort Calgary, one of our great sponsors. The Fort, designated a national and provincial historic site, is situated on 40 acres of riverside park. This site provides pleasant walking paths and allows visitors a rare glimpse into our past. Costumed interpreters, using 1875 building techniques and tools, build a representation of the original fort and its furnishings. Inside the fort, the interpretive centre offers displays, exhibits, and hands-on interactive learning areas.

Head-smashed-in Buffalo Jump
Venturing beyond the city, you can take in historic sites like Head-smashed-in Buffulo Jump, the world's oldest, largest, and best preserved buffalo jump known to exist. Designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1981, Head-Smashed-In has been used continuously by aboriginal peoples of the plains for more than 5,500 years.
Royal Tyrell Museum of Paleontology
If you wish to travel even further back in time one can make the drive East of Calgary to Drumhellor and the Royal Tyrell Museum of Paleontology.The Royal Tyrrell Museum was opened in 1985 and is known the world over as an outstanding palaeontology museum and research facility.
