New for 2009 - the AstraZeneca Family 5k Walk & Run! Make this a family tradition!
$5 from every registration goes directly to the Canadian Diabetes Association
As we all know, active families are happy families so make this a family tradition! Whether this is your first 5k or you're a 5k veteran, this is a fun race to run! This flat, fast course starts in Bridgeland and goes out and back on Memorial Drive.
The 5k is the most popular distance in road racing because its a managable distance for people of all ages and abilities. Best of all - $5 from every registration goes directly to the Canadian Diabetes Association. Together with AstraZeneca, the Calgary Marathon Society aims to promote healthy and active lifestyles while raising funds for diabetes research, education, services and advocacy programs.

Entry Fee Includes
A cotton, short sleeved shirt featuring the 5k race logo (adult and youth sizing is available - please order size accordingly), a finishers’ medal, food and drink at the finish line, a souvenir Race Program, admission to the Fitness Expo, medical support on course and at the finish line, sanitary facilities; live entertainment, and over 1,000 enthusiastic volunteers working for you.

Confirmation
Confirmation of your race entry will be e-mailed to you once payment has been processed. Printed confirmation or photo id is required at the race package pick-up. To ensure your entry has been received, look for your name on our website: Registration Confirmation.
‘ChampionChip’ Timing
All runners will be using ChipTiming. You will pick up your chip at package pick up and return it at the finish line. A deposit is not required. Chips not returned are the responsibility of the runner and a $40 charge will be administered for unreturned chips.
Race Cap
For logistical reasons and to ensure the best possible event, all events will be capped. This makes it essential for those who wish to participate to ENTER EARLY! We expect the 5k to sell out.

Start / Finish
All race day activities will start and finish in Bridgeland. The course is open for 6½ hours. Walkers are invited and encouraged to participate in all events. Please seed yourself accordingly.
Awards
All finishers will receive a finishers' medal as they cross the finish
line. A certificate of completion will be available for download from
our web site. Awards will be given out in the marathon, half marathon
and 10k races.

Cancellations
ENTRY FEES ARE NON-REFUNDABLE AND NON-TRANSFERABLE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. Once we accept your entry you will not receive a refund if you cannot participate. You may not give or sell your number to anyone else.
Race Portraits
The HSBC Calgary Marathon is proud to have Action Sports International as the official photographer of the HSBC Calgary Marathon race weekend. ASI is the industry leader in professional sports photography and their goal is to capture an athlete's greatest moment on film!
Official photographs will be taken along the course and at the finish line by strategically placed ASI photographers. To get the best pictures possible, keep your race number uncovered and in clear view at all times. Action Sports International will then email proofs of your photographs with ordering information within one week after the race.
