Calgary Marathon 1963 – First running of the Calgary Marathon with Doug Kyle and Bill Wyllie as co-directors of the race. There were 19 entrants and 12 finishers on the out and back course from Glenmore Stadium and along Macleod Trail. Winner – Doug Kyle (2:45:54) 1964 – The Second Calgary Marathon is also the host for Canada’s Olympic marathon trials, with the fastest and most elite runners in the country taking part.
1975 – Women debut in the race. Women’s division winner – Carmen Robinson (3:50:12)
1984 - **Arthur Dyson becomes the oldest finisher of the Calgary Marathon at age 80. His time is 5:13:16. This is his eighth time completing the event.
1985 - **Paul Feltoe becomes the youngest finisher of the Calgary Marathon at age 11. His time is 3:57:48
1985 - **Lorna Hawley sets a Women’s Overall record with her 5th win in the Calgary Marathon (1981,82,83,84,85).
1989 - Calgary Marathon moves from May to July to team up with the Stampede 10k race. Introduction of the Stampede breakfast. Race starts and finishes at the Eau Claire Y. 1990 - **Claire Kroshus sets a new Calgary Marathon Women’s record of 2:45:59. 1991 – Cash prizes are introduced, with 1st place men’s and women’s winners receiving $500 each. The name of the event is changed to the Stampede Run Off.
**Kelvin Broad sets a new Calgary Marathon Men’s record of 2:23:49.
1998 – Finish line moves back to Mewata Stadium. 1999 – Finish line moves to Fort Calgary 2000 - **Kelvin Broad sets a Men’s Overall record with his 8th win in the Calgary Marathon. (1991,93,94,95,96,97,98, 2000) |

1992 – Celebration of the 500th anniversary of Christopher Columbus landing in America. The question is: Was he a runner?
1993 – The World Wide Web was created, turning the Internet into a mass medium.
1993 – Timing chip technology is introduced, allowing us to track race results from remote locations. 1999 – The world gets ready for Y2K.
